Abound Reni Pani Jungle Lodge
Forsyth’s Lodge satpura situated beside Sarangpur village, at the northern edge of the Satpura Tiger Reserve, opposite what is known as the Madai Entrance to the reserve. The Denwa, one of the tributaries of the Narmada, separates the reserve from human habitation.
Forsyth Lodge satpura is a small wildlife lodge set in 44 acres of reclaimed jungle at the edge of the Satpura Tiger Reserve. We focus on a meaningful, sustainable wildlife and wilderness experience and this is reflected in the services we offer, in the property we manage, and in our partnerships with the park administration and the local community.
Forsyth Lodge is located at the outer edge of the Satpura National Park. The National Park, part of an ambitious government initiative that seeks to preserve and reclaim dwindling forests, is a landscape of hills and ravines. As your eye ranges carefully over this readily visible contrast, you will begin to notice the many small things that make the National Park unique—an intersection of North with South, and indeed, East with West, never mind what the good Mr. Kipling said. A zone of meeting, mingling and divergences of transitions and continuities.
We are 180 kms south-east of Bhopal, which is three-and-a-half hours by road (via Bhimbhetka and Hoshangabad). Bhopal is the state capital (of Madhya Pradesh) and is thus well connected by air to other cities in India such as Mumbai, Delhi, Nagpur and Hyderabad. As also by train.
There are several train routes that you could consider for getting to Bhopal. The Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express connects the two cities, and is also a possibility for those extending their journey from Gwalior, Agra and Jhansi. Other railway junctions in the vicinity include Jabalpur and Itarsi. You could catch the Jan Shatabdi from Jabalpur at 6 a.m and alight at Pipariya station at 9:30 a.m. Forsyth Lodge Satpura is an hour’s journey by road from Pipariya. Itarsi Junction, a station that straddles the North-South rail link, is again well-connected to several Indian cities. It is a 90-minute ride by road from Forsyth Lodge.
Pench Tiger Reserve is located to the south-east, a seven-hour journey by road. The route will take you past Seoni, Chhindwara, the Tarnia Ridge and Pachmarhi to Forsyth Lodge satpura. Pachmarhi, the charming British-era hill-station/summer retreat, the only one in Central India, is a two-hour-drive from Forsyth Lodge satpura.
